I bought my first fish at a five and dime at age 5, moved down to Florida with my mom in 1976 when she entered the fish farming industry. I started working at Segrest over 30 years ago, making boxes with fiberglass insulation as pre-formed Styrofoam was not yet available to the industry. After attending college, I worked for Dun & Bradstreet for a few years, (which turned out to be great experience for the changing customer base of our business), I came back to Segrest as a secretary, and started keeping fish again. I've worked my way up to now being Vice President, in charge of all chain business and all our Florida companies. I travel the world inspecting our shippers and finding new species of fish, and new color variants of old favorites. Now I spend a great deal of time both promoting and defending the aquatics industry on local, state and federal levels. My current board positions include: Vice President - Ornamental Fish International Secretary - Florida Tropical Fish Farmers Association Co-Chair Marine Subcommittee - Chair of Freshwater Aquatics Committee - Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council Human Animal Bond Research Initiative Pet Leadership Council. |
